Job summary

Trinity Health is seeking an ECG Technician to perform quality ECG studies, enter patient demographics, and ensure accurate data transmission to the hospital data system. The role supports ED operations during a 12-hour day shift.

The ideal candidate has Paramedic/EMT experience, a HS diploma or GED, and proficiency with computer systems; ACLS/BLS/PALS preferred; cross-training as Unit Secretary may be offered.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED is required.
• Paramedic and/or EMT certification preferred; willing to cross train as Unit Secretary.
• Experience as Paramedic/EMT required; starting IVs necessary; computer experience.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proper technique and lead placement for performing a quality ECG study.
• Verifies order is placed into computer; acquires ECG with demographics.
• Transmits ECG from cart to data management system; alerts for high-priority rhythms.
• Monitors waiting room and identifies patients needing reassessment by triage nurse.
• Recognizes monitor alarms and notifies RN or charge nurse.

• Demonstrates proper technique and lead placement for performing a quality ECG study.
• Verifies order is placed into computer.
• Acquires ECG assuring all patient demographics are entered and correct.
• Edits ECG s (ie correct patient s name, MR#, room #).
• Transmits from the ECG cart to the data management system.
• Identifies high priority rhythms and complexes and delivers ECG to ED MD for interpretation

• Demonstrates the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient s needs.
• Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of growth and development.
• Demonstrates the ability to identify high priority patients to the triage nurse, based on pre determined criteria.
• Monitors the waiting room and identifies patient in need for re-assessment by the triage nurse, based on pre determined criteria.
• Recognizes and responds to monitor alarms and/or changes in patient cardiac rhythm, and assures that RN or charge nurse is notified and aware.

Minimum Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or GED is required
• Certificate from Paramedic and/or EMT School is preferred.
• Willingness to cross train as Unit Secretary
• Previous experience working as a Paramedic and/or EMT is required. Experience with starting IVs is necessary
• Computer experience

Licensures/Certifications:

• Paramedic and/or ER Tech License preferred.
• ACLS, BLS, PALS required
