Job summary

Medical City McKinney is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Room to join our full-time night shift team. You will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in coordination with the care team within a Level III trauma center.

You will assess pain, perform necessary procedures, document care, and educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, and follow-up steps. A strong commitment to safety and compassionate care is essential.

Qualifications

• RN license in good standing and state-specific requirements.
• ACLS, BLS, PALS and TNCC certifications obtained or within specified timeframes.
• Bachelor's degree expected within 2 years of employment.
• Experience in emergency or acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

Education

RN — Registered Nurse

Associate Degree

Bachelor's Degree (required within 2 years)

ACLS — Advanced Cardiac Life Support

BLS — Basic Cardiac Life Support

PALS — Pediatric Advanced Life Support

TNCC — Trauma Nursing Core Course
