Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous CRT experience preferred.
• Previous experience in hospital admitting department or previous clerical experience in a medical setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Completes the registration of patients into the hospital computer system according to hospital procedures.
• Performs bedside registration for Emergency Room patients and pre-registers/registers patients for admissions and services to support timely billing.
• Verifies and records accurate financial and demographic information; collects insurance cards as needed.
• Explains and obtains signatures for consent forms and witnesses signatures for treatment, financial consent and HIPAA forms.
• Scans forms and records, enters PA and pre-cert numbers, and processes PATA orders and off-site registrations.
• Obtains pre-certification, referrals and prior authorizations within 24 hours of admission or next working day.
• Keys certification information into hospital computer systems; coordinates with Case Management for benefits and with Patient Access for verification.
• Collects co-pays/deductibles for ED services and may cashier during off-hours; handles deposits and valuables and issues receipts.
• Assists with Hospital Switchboard coverage and responds to codes when needed; performs related duties as assigned.
