Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health seeks a Physician Assistant for the Emergency Medicine Associates team, located at Jersey City Medical Center, Jersey City, NJ. This salaried position supports Emergency Department and inpatient care in a night shift with a focus on early detection, treatment, and prevention of diseases.

The role requires a Master’s in PA Studies, PA certification, and NJ licensure, with BLS/ACLS certifications.

Qualifications

• Master's PA degree required and PA certification.
• New Jersey licensure and DEA/CDS where applicable.
• BLS and ACLS certifications must be current.
• Experience in emergency medicine and hospital settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains and records patient history.
• Performs physical and medical screening examinations.
• Completes diagnostic and therapeutic studies.
• Orders diagnostic laboratory tests, radiological studies or other therapies as appropriate.
• Establishes diagnostic decision-making and initiates a treatment plan, which may include ordering medications and therapies.
• Coordinates patient care with other health care team members.
• Initiates consultation requests to other professionals for comprehensive management.
• Instructs and counsels patients regarding health, referring to specialists as needed.
• Completes charting in a thorough and timely manner.
• Manages patient flow in the ED or inpatient unit.
• Performs procedures under supervision according to state law.
• Adheres to legal, regulatory, and ethical standards; participates in risk management.
• Completes required CME/CEU courses and department training.
• Other duties as assigned.
