Job summary

UNC Health is seeking a patient sitter to provide direct observation and support for assigned patients in the Rockingham area. The role emphasizes patient safety, privacy, and compassionate care while remaining with the patient at all times.

Under the supervision of an RN, you will document observations, monitor patient well-being, and ensure comfort and safety throughout your shift in a 36-hour-per-week full-time schedule.

Responsibilities

• Patient observation: keep patient(s) in view at all times; never leaves patient unattended; documents observations appropriately.
• Patient safety: maintains sight of patient at all times; screens items; notifies RN with concerns.
• Patient privacy: maintains confidentiality of all patient information; respects patient dignity.
• Communication: listens to patient concerns; communicates with empathy; informs RN or relief sitter as needed.
• Conduct: performs patient care within scope; avoids personal calls or in-room activities; stays with patient until relief arrives.
• Quality: follows policies, safety and infection control standards.
