Job summary

Roper St. Francis Healthcare is seeking a patient care technician/ED support role in Charleston, SC. The position involves assisting nursing staff, greeting patients, and maintaining records with attention to accuracy and privacy.

The role requires BLS certification and a high school diploma or GED, with experience in acute care or a nursing home setting preferred. Training and weekend/holiday coverage may be required.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.
• Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalent.
• Experience as an ED Technician or Patient Care Technician in acute care or nursing home setting, or completion of Fundamentals of Nursing/Nursing Assistant program.

Responsibilities

• Perform delegated direct patient care activities under RN supervision.
• Report patient condition changes to the Primary Nurse, Charge Nurse, or Provider.
• Provide respectful nursing care and advocate for patients.
• Accurately document and communicate physician orders and care.
• Use computer systems and act as a unit resource.
• Ensure regulatory compliance, infection prevention, and quality initiatives.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked work area conducive to workflow.
• Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.
