Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a Patient Care Technician to provide essential patient care and support within our New Jersey hospital system. You will assist with admissions, procedures, vitals, specimen collection, and care coordination under RN supervision.

We value teamwork, rapid learning, and a patient-centric approach. Preferred candidates may have phlebotomy/EKG experience and a PCT/CNA background, with AHA BLS within 60 days of hire. This is an on-site role in North Bergen, NJ.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Completion of one of the listed programs (CNA/MA/PCT) or equivalent medical training; EMT or HHA also acceptable.
• Ability to learn quickly, teamwork, patient-focused care.
• Phlebotomy and EKG experience preferred.
• At least 1 year in PCT/CNA hospital setting preferred or eligible for HMH PCT apprentice program.
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of starting.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care based on age, safety and education needs.
• Communicate with patients, nursing staff and health care team about patient status.
• Perform venipuncture and collect specimens as directed.
• Take vitals and document results in patient records.
• Assist with admissions, procedures, and care transitions.
• Maintain supplies and equipment readiness for safe patient care.
