Qualifications

• Experience in hospital or medical office patient access or financial services preferred.
• HS diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient intake with accurate demographic data in the EHR, ensuring no duplication of records.
• Verifies benefits and Medicare/insurance details at registration.
• Determines and collects patient financial responsibility at point of service with receipts.
• Documents notes on each account and communicates with patient and responsible party.
• Ensures all payer-specific forms are completed at service, including Tricare, VA, and United Healthcare.
• Scans IDs, insurance cards, eligibility responses, payments, and signatures to patient accounts.
• Maintains proficiency with all systems and devices used in Patient Access duties.
• Supports point-of-service collections and informs patients of financial responsibility.
• Knowledge CPT/ICD-10 codes and HIPAA requirements.
• Adheres to EMTALA guidelines and ensures compliance.
• Updates charts and responds to emails promptly.
• Meets QA, collections, insurance verification, and registration time goals.
• Delivers excellent customer service to patients and families.
• Keeps supervisor updated with current contact information.
