Job summary

UPMC Northwest is seeking a flexible full-time Emergency Department Patient Services Representative to support patient intake and registration. The role involves greeting patients, educating them on copayments, collecting payments, and guiding them to financial advocacy resources.

Responsibilities include accurate ADT registration, insurance verification, and maintaining data quality with HIPAA-compliant practices.

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience in healthcare or 1 year in a medical/billing/fiscal setting or 6 months in a UPMC Patient Access position preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
• Experience with third party health care coverage and managed care regulations preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Ability to work independently and handle stressful situations.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile and maintain First Net Emergency Department Tracking Board and Hospital ADT system.
• Register patients accurately into hospital ADT or clinical systems during downtime and ensure data integrity.
• Serve as a central resource for ADT registration and problem resolution during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Confirm insurance eligibility and coordinate benefits to support billing processes.
