Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital is seeking an EMT-Paramedic to join the Emergency Department care team. The role focuses on supporting Registered Nurses with patient care, performing EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy, suctioning, and initiating monitoring and therapy as needed.

The ideal candidate will hold EMS-Paramedic training, Ohio EMTP licensure, and BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, with clinical EMS experience. Night shifts, weekends, and holidays rotate.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic training program
• Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross upon hire or within one year of start date in the Emergency Department
• Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic training program

Responsibilities

• Provide duties that assist in providing patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse
• Obtain and record vital signs
• Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and oral, nasal and ET suctioning
• Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks
• Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes
• Apply orthopaedic appliances and simple splints
• Size crutches and teach crutch walking
• Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, LP, etc.
• Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices
• Transport patients and specimens
• Assist with sterile procedures and cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment
• Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy
• Perform fluid/drug administration
