Job summary

Piedmont Eastside Medical Center is seeking a Paramedic for full-time night shifts in the Emergency Department. You will work under supervision with Registered Nurses and Physicians to provide age-appropriate, culturally sensitive care and to participate in patient advocacy and care coordination.

Responsibilities include administering medications, performing EKGs, starting IVs, and transporting patients between departments, while maintaining patient safety and effective team communication.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• 1 year of Paramedic experience preferred.
• BLS required; ACLS and PALS required; NIH preferred and must obtain within timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Assess and treat patients using intramuscular, sublingual, oral and IV medications; monitor for adverse reactions and manage anaphylaxis per protocol.
• Assess neurological, respiratory, cardiac and trauma status and respond accordingly.
• Provide safe patient care with age-appropriate and culturally sensitive care; communicate with RN/physician.
• Perform EKGs, Foley catheter insertions, start IVs and IOs, and draw blood.
• Transport patients to other departments and monitor for arrhythmias; report changes to Charge Nurse.
