Job summary

BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital in Scottsdale, AZ, is hiring an experienced Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician. The role offers hourly pay between $22 and $35, with additional shift differentials for night hours. Schedule is 7pm-7am on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday.

Responsibilities

• You will perform phlebotomy and place peripheral IV catheters under supervision.
• You will monitor patient status and alert Veterinarian if changes occur.
• You will read and follow orders on treatment sheets accurately and promptly.
• You will assist with physical exams and monitor vital signs and patient comfort.
• You will assist during anesthesia and emergency procedures under Level II supervision.
• You will support the Veterinarian and clients through the euthanasia process.

BluePearl Specialty + Emergency Pet Hospital is hiring an experienced Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician to join our team in Scottsdale, AZ!

Pay: $22 - $35 / hour

Pay is dependent on experience, licensure, and leveling through our competency system.

Schedule

7pm-7am Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

Shift Differentials (in addition to the hourly rate above)

• Monday-Friday 8pm-6am: $3.50
• Saturday-Sunday 8pm-6am: $5.00

As an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician:

• You will be able to calculate basic medical math.
• You compassionately, calmly, and gently approach and handle patients.
• You will understand the classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• You will administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• You will perform phlebotomy.
• You will have the ability to place a peripheral intravenous catheter in the cephalic vein.
• You will alert Veterinarian if the patient's status changes and/or physical exam or monitoring parameters are outside of normal ranges.
• You will perform physical exams; accurately count heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
• You will intubate patients under the direction of a Level II technician or higher.
• You support Veterinarian and client through the euthanasia process.
• You can read and follow orders written on the treatment sheet accurately and promptly.

Our Continuing Education Plan

includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours. Newly hired associates will receive a pro-rated amount of any CE benefit for which they are eligible.
