Responsibilities

• Performs ongoing assessments, establishes a plan of care and monitors response to treatment.
• Prioritizes care and responds to emergency situations and patient needs.
• Participates in patient care activities, ensures ADLs are met, and completes work in a thorough and timely manner.
• Makes rounds to assess therapies and documents findings in the EHR.
• Interacts with patients and families; provides education and develops individualized care plans.
• Discharges patients with appropriate referrals and provides discharge teaching in the EHR.
• Administers medications and treatments safely and efficiently.
• Communicates with physicians regarding patient care and orders; assists with procedures.
• Operates and supervises specialized equipment.
• Assigns care to ancillary staff according to competency and patient acuity.
• Maintains positive relationships and efficient nursing department functioning.
• Assists with supplies and pharmaceuticals and monitors outdates.
• Seeks training to maximize skills and cross-trains for unit coverage.
• Provides guidance to the nursing team as required.
• Attends mandatory in-services and maintains skills verification.
• Adheres to Compliance, Safety and HIPAA policies.
• Has access to sensitive patient information.
• Knows and uses the EHR proficiently.
• Cross-trains to cover general inpatient or outpatient units.
