Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Patient Care Tech III to join the Emergency Department in Worcester, MA. The role supports licensed clinicians by delivering direct patient care, monitoring high-risk patients, and assisting with treatments and procedures in a fast-paced hospital setting.

The position includes night shifts, under the supervision of registered nurses, with a signing bonus potential and comprehensive hospital benefits.

Responsibilities

• Provides clear, timely communication to the RN regarding observations and changes seen in patients.
• Maintains constant observation of high-risk patients as assigned by the Resource Nurse or designee.
• Participates in developing and maintaining a safe environment and assists in de-escalation or restraints as directed.
• Assists patients with daily living activities including hygiene, ambulation, meals and nourishment.
• Assists in moving, lifting, positioning, and transporting patients with proper safety techniques.
• Performs patient safety checks and uses fall prevention strategies as directed.
• Takes and records vital signs and measures patient height and weight.
• Performs EKGs, POCT, and bladder scanning and prepares specimens for lab transport.
• Phlebotomy in certain locations.
• Assists with treatments and procedures by preparing patient and equipment, and provides emotional support.
• Performs unit-specific procedures and maintains equipment and supplies.
• Communicates with the care team and supports patient care delivery.
