Job summary

Alameda Health System is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to deliver patient care under the supervision of the Registered Nurse in the ED. The EMT collects data, assists with exams, and supports clinicians while ensuring patient safety and dignity.

The role includes charting, order entry assistance, and patient transport, with responsibilities for preparing patients for procedures and aiding in CPR when needed. High school diploma and BLS/EMT certifications required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• One year clinical experience pre-hospital care and/or acute care preferred.
• BLS - Basic Life Support certification required.
• EMT or EMT-P certification required (CNA license considered).

Responsibilities

• Operate computer programs for order entry, charge entry, and ED log.
• Support clinicians in patient care and report patient condition to RN/MD.
• Assist during CPR and medical procedures as directed by MD/RN.
• Transcribe physician orders and document vital signs.
• Transport patients via wheelchair and stretcher; assist with discharge.
