Job summary

Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth, KS, is seeking an Emergency Room CNA to assist nurses and doctors in a fast-paced ED. This per diem position involves monitoring vitals, assisting with procedures, stocking supplies, and transporting patients within the hospital.

The role requires current CNA certification, BLS at hire, and knowledge of medical terminology. Prior acute care experience is preferred, with benefits including health/dental/vision and flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, required.
• Current BLS upon hire and maintain current.
• Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology
• Minimum six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician's office preferred

Responsibilities

• Help patients with basic needs (bathing, dressing, toileting), reposition and transfer patients as needed.
• Monitor and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, respiration), assist with wound care and dressing changes under supervision.
• Prepare rooms and ensure medical supplies are stocked, transport patients within the hospital (to imaging or other departments).
• Assist with procedures (e.g., setting up equipment, applying splints), perform CPR and basic life support if certified.
• Record patient information and observations, report changes in patient condition to nurses or doctors and provide emotional support to patients and families.
• Clean and sanitize patient areas and equipment, follow hospital protocols to prevent infection spread
