Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health, in Concord, CA, seeks an Client Intake Coordinator for the Emergency Department (Swing Shift) to warmly welcome emergency clients and document histories in the EMR. You will triage cases, support the clinical team, and help manage patient flow during 4:00 PM–2:30 AM shifts.

Ideal candidates have at least two years in a veterinary setting, strong communication skills, and the ability to stay calm under pressure while collaborating with veterinarians and staff to deliver

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years of clinical veterinary experience; emergency or specialty setting preferred.
• Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and emergency patient care.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first contact for emergency clients with compassionate service.
• Triage incoming cases and communicate critical information to the clinical team.
• Document patient histories accurately in the EMR.
• Assist with patient intake and vital signs when appropriate.
• Coordinate with veterinarians and technicians to prioritize cases.

Up to $32.00/hour (DOE) + $5.50/hour Shift Differential (6:00 PM-6:00 AM)

Full-time opportunity in Concord, California

Schedule: Wednesday-Saturday | 4:00 PM-2:30 AM

In Your Day-to-Day, You Will

• Serve as the first point of contact for emergency clients, providing compassionate service during stressful situations.
• Triage incoming emergency cases and communicate critical information to the clinical team.
• Obtain patient histories and accurately document medical information in the electronic medical record.
• Assist with patient intake, including obtaining vital signs when appropriate.
• Coordinate closely with veterinarians and technicians to prioritize cases and maintain efficient patient flow.
• Accurately enter service charges during the intake process to support timely invoicing.
• Prepare and maintain exam rooms for incoming emergency patients.
• Keep clients informed by providing updates and setting expectations throughout their visit.
• Support efficient shift transitions and daily Emergency Department operations.
• Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams.
• Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture.

What You Bring

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years of clinical veterinary experience required; emergency or specialty hospital experience strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and emergency patient care.
• Excellent communication, client service, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm, organized, and compassionate in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift 40 pounds or more and stand for extended periods.
• Bilingual skills are a plus but not required.
• A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient and client care.
