Emory Healthcare in Decatur, GA seeks an EMT-Advanced/EMT-Intermediate professional to support emergency department operations during a 7am–7:30pm shift. You will provide direct patient care, assist with triage, and collaborate with MDs and RNs to ensure timely, high-quality care.

The role requires CPR certification and EMT–I/A/P credentials, strong communication, and the ability to work as part of a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of an accredited EMT-Advanced or EMT-Intermediate training program.
• One year related experience preferred.
• Must have current certification as an EMT-I, EMT-A, or EMT-P, and CPR.

Responsabilités

• Ensures general patient satisfaction, including providing blankets, food, and updates on treatment status.
• Focuses education on daily clinical situation and adherence to Standards of Care.
• Performs peripheral IV placement, specimen collection, general phlebotomy and blood cultures, and placement of urinary catheters.
• Ensures that all procedures are properly documented.
• Involved in the placement of simple orthoglass splints and pre-made splints (knee immobilizers, slings).
• Performs basic wound care, bandaging, and wound irrigation.
• Eye irrigation with saline and Morgan lens.
• Takes vital signs and performs accuchecks.
• Transports patients to diagnostics and floor beds.
• Assists in acute and code situations; supports care with MD and RN.
• Familiar with emergency situations and Code Blue disaster team.
• Works as a team member in triaging, staging and treating disaster patients.
• Assists in care of acute patients; competent in defibrillating with AED, suctioning, monitors.
• Performs EKGs and other POC testing; assesses wait area complaints.
• Notifies RN/Physician of potentially critical patients and explains delays in treatment.
