Job summary

NALHE is seeking a patient care assistant to work under supervision in the Emergency Services unit. You will assist in treatment rooms, monitor patient vitals, and support physicians and nurses in routine and emergent procedures.

Responsibilities include documentation, patient education on self-care, infection control, and readiness to respond to codes. This role emphasizes teamwork and compliant care delivery in a fast-paced setting.

Qualifications

• Performs routine patient care under supervision of RN in Emergency Services.
• Promotes teamwork among co-workers and adheres to nursing standards.
• Instructs patients on general health and basic self-care.

Responsibilities

• Completes documentation and serves as information source for patients.
• Review and clarify physician orders with patient or parent.
• Administer first aid and assist in procedures in treatment rooms.
• Prepare and position patients for procedures and support during emergencies.
• Observe vital signs, monitor bleeding, and record data.
• Transport patients and route specimens to laboratory.
• Maintain clean and stocked exam and procedure rooms.
