Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in finance, business, economics, or related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in loan underwriting, with a focus on equity or real estate lending.
• Strong understanding of credit risk analysis, financial statement interpretation, loan structures, and collateral evaluation.
• Familiarity with lending regulations, compliance, and industry best practices.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Experience with loan origination and underwriting software.

Responsibilities

• Independently review and analyze borrower financials, credit histories, property appraisals, and loan structures for equity loan requests.
• Conduct in-depth risk assessments and prepare comprehensive written analyses and recommendations for approval, counteroffer, or declination within authority limits.
• Ensure all loan decisions comply with internal credit policies, underwriting guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Make loan decisions within moderate approval limits; elevate complex or high-exposure loans to senior underwriters or management.
• Collaborate with processors, loan officers, closers, and other stakeholders to resolve escalated issues and facilitate timely credit decisions.
• Provide guidance and support to Underwriter I and other team members as needed.
• Participate in workflow process improvements and contribute to policy development.
