Job summary

Intrinsic Schools in Chicago is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to support students’ intellectual, emotional, and social growth through individualized instruction and evidence-based practices.

You will develop and modify curricula, collaborate with families and staff on IEPs, provide targeted supports, and participate in collaborative teams and professional development to sustain high expectations for all learners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from an accredited institution.
• LBS1 license required or eligible.
• Experience working with children with a wide range of disabilities.
• Ability to create IEPs.
• Strong written and verbal communication with families and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEPs for each student.
• Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs and document preparation.
• Coordinate with district and outside resources regarding student needs.
• Comply with applicable regulations and school policies for special education teachers.
• Maintain confidential records and reports.
• Modify regular curricula to support inclusion and assist students in regular classes.
• Analyze student progress data to inform instruction and interventions.
• Provide timely feedback to support growth and mastery.
• Mentor students through advisory lessons and progress conferences.
• Lead a C Day club aligned to student interests.
• Offer weekly office hours and targeted academic support.
• Engage in instructional coaching and data-driven instruction meetings.
• Participate in school events and student-led conferences.
