Job summary

The Madison Metropolitan School District in Wisconsin seeks a licensed school nurse to join the Health Services team on an exempt, full-time basis. The role supports a comprehensive pupil services program, advocating for educational equity and coordinating care with families, teachers, and community partners to maximize student learning.

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Nursing, current Wisconsin RN license, CPR, and DPI certification within three years.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing and current Wisconsin RN license required.
• CPR/AED certification required.
• DPI nurse license must be obtained within 3 years of employment.
• Basic Emergency Care Course completion within 6 months of employment.
• Experience working cross-culturally or commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership in school health policies and procedures.
• Participate on Student Support and Intervention Team (SSIT) and School-based Leadership Team (SBLT).
• Develop and monitor Individualized Care Plans (IHP) and Emergency Health Plans (EHP).
• Supervise nursing interventions and ensure safety by delegating tasks to qualified staff.
• Coordinate care with families and external health partners; assist enrollment in benefits programs.
• Provide education to staff on health implications of chronic conditions and vaccination compliance.
