Eastern Iowa Community College District seeks a TRIO Student Support Services advisor to support a diverse student population under the TRIO program. Responsibilities include advising on academics, transfers, and career planning, with data reporting to Federal TRIO guidelines.

You will collaborate with faculty and community partners to promote retention, graduation, and successful transitions, emphasizing equity and student success.

• This role requires a Bachelor’s degree and a commitment to equity and student success.
• Experience in academic advising, transfer/articulation, counseling, or career exploration is preferred.
• Strong social-emotional intelligence and ability to build rapport with a diverse student population.

• Provide holistic academic, transfer, and career advising to TRIO participants, addressing academic progress and personal development.
• Build strong, supportive relationships with students using culturally responsive and student-centered advising practices.
• Use effective problem-solving strategies to assist students in navigating academic, personal, and institutional challenges.
• Deliver one-on-one coaching in study skills, test preparation, time management, goal setting, and college knowledge.
• Plan and facilitate workshops on financial literacy, transfer planning, career exploration, writing skills, and technical literacy.
• Assist students in exploring careers and academic majors using approved career assessment tools and resources.
• Connect students with campus and community resources to support academic success, persistence, and well-being.
• Monitor, track, and report student progress toward retention, graduation, and transfer outcomes; implement targeted interventions as needed.
• Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with federal TRIO regulations and U.S. Department of Education requirements.
• Assist with planning, coordinating, and chaperoning college transfer visits, cultural enrichment activities, and engagement events.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to strengthen student support networks.
• Participate in TRIO program planning, implementation, assessment, and continuous improvement activities.
• Attend at least one U.S. Department of Education-approved TRIO Priority Training annually.
• Is committed to providing quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of internal and external customers.
• Other duties as assigned.
