Job summary

xS.T.R.E.A.M. Minds Academy in Birmingham, AL is seeking a compassionate School Counselor to design and deliver a comprehensive counseling program that supports students’ academic, social, and emotional growth within a SEL-focused, equity-driven environment.

The Counselor will serve on the MTSS and wellness teams, lead SEL instruction, provide individual and group counseling, respond to crises, and collaborate with families to empower students and create a safe, inclusive school climate.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in School Counseling or related field.
• Valid Alabama School Counselor Certification or eligibility.
• 2–3 years experience in a K–8 school counseling role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead SEL programming aligned with CASEL five competencies and MTSS.
• Provide individual and small-group counseling for students.
• Collaborate to promote a positive, inclusive school climate.
• Design Tier 2 and Tier 3 SEL interventions and monitor progress.
• Serve on MTSS team and assist with crisis response and safety planning.
• Engage families through Parent emPOWERment workshops.
• Maintain confidential records and analyze SEL, behavior, and attendance data.
• Lead PD on SEL, behavior de‑escalation, and restorative practices.
