Job summary

Bright Star Schools in Los Angeles seeks an Assistant Principal to lead instructional and cultural vision, coach teachers, and support the principal with school-based needs. The role emphasizes MTSS, PBIS, restorative practices, and social-emotional student learning, with responsibilities spanning data-driven planning, culture, and family engagement.

The candidate will supervise staff, lead PD, and collaborate with the Principal on master scheduling and school-wide priorities to improve outcomes

Qualifications

  • Valid, Clear, California Teaching Credential (Single Subject or Multiple Subject preferred) or P.P.S. Credential.
  • At least three years of experience as a teacher lead, instructional coach/mentor, lead counselor, or an administrative role.
  • Valid California Administrative credential (or currently enrolled in an administrative credential program).
  • At least four years of teaching or school guidance counseling experience with a record of supporting student achievement.
  • Strong organizational, student management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with Google Apps and data-based programs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to create documents for the school community.
  • Ability to analyze complex student data, identify trends, and drive growth.
  • Alignment with our student, parent, and employee expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the School Leadership Team and align work to the strategic plan.
  • Lead school site events, culture meetings, assemblies, and attendance meetings.
  • Coach, mentor, and evaluate teachers and leaders with data-driven goal setting.
  • Oversee assessments (ELPAC, CAASPP, i-Ready, College Board exams) and inclusive education practices.
  • Lead data conversations to close achievement gaps and strengthen curricula.
  • Align PD, master scheduling, and instructional goals with the school vision.
  • Oversee school-wide culture systems, restorative practices, and behavior management.
  • Supervise student activities and support family/student engagement.
