Citi in New York is seeking a senior leader in Applications Support to oversee 35+ engineers supporting Equities North America trading. You will drive automation, platform resiliency, and best-in-class observability while partnering with the business to shape strategic direction.

This is a highly critical role within the Markets Production Management space who will be responsible for supporting day to day activities for Equities North America trading. This individual will oversee a team of over 35 support engineers who look after algorithmic trading, high touch trading systems, and client and market connectivity. In addition to ensuring maximum uptime of the systems, this senior individual will drive initiatives to reduce support effort, automate platform resiliency, and introduce best in class observability in areas such as latency, potential performance bottlenecks, and failure detection. This senior leader will also influence strategic direction of the area and become a trusted partner of the business.

Responsibilities

• Applies in-depth understanding of concepts and procedures within own area and basic knowledge of other areas to resolve issues that have impact beyond own area.
• Establishes strategic plans for function.
• Understands how the apps support function integrates within the overall organization to contribute to achieving business objectives.
• Evaluates subordinates' performance and makes decisions on pay increases, hiring, terminations and other personnel actions.
• Influences and negotiates with senior leaders (across functions); may communicate with external parties
• Management responsibility for a team or multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval.
• Performs other duties and functions as assigned
• Own and lead disaster recovery plans.
• Lead and deliver local staff forums, present global, regional and location news encouraging global collaboration.
• Contribute to define and Implement standard methodologies for the department. Ensure transparency and consistency across teams in the region and globally.
• Ensure team adheres to standard methodologies and process including driving compliance to clockwork, resilience and capacity planning
• Develop positive relationship with the infrastructure & other functional support teams to drive efficiency
• Set measurable / challenging goals for self and team ensuring continuous improvement and self-development of staff
• Ensure development plans are in place for staff
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
