Job summary

Banker Steel Company LLC is seeking an Equipment Yard Manager in Clayton, NJ to oversee daily yard operations, organize inventory, and ensure safety and cost control. This hands-on leadership role requires coordinating maintenance, vendor relations, and field support to keep equipment rental-ready.

You will manage yard staff, optimize maintenance schedules, and ensure OSHA compliance across multiple sites, while supporting project teams with timely equipment delivery and deployment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in equipment management within construction, industrial, or heavy equipment industries.
• Strong knowledge of fleet management, equipment maintenance, and logistics.
• Experience with budgeting, procurement, and vendor negotiations.
• Understanding of OSHA and safety regulations related to equipment usage.
• OSHA 30, Forklift Certification, and valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high organization and housekeeping of the equipment yard at all times.
• Oversee equipment maintenance and repairs, coordinating with vendors and in-house teams.
• Track inventory and usage across multiple sites using Align (formerly ToolWatch).
• Ensure safety compliance with regulations and report any incidents.
• Coordinate with managers to assess equipment needs and availability across jobs.
• Maintain vendor relationships for leasing, repairs, and procurement.
• Monitor equipment lifecycle and advise on upgrades or replacements.
• Develop cost-effective maintenance and labor strategies to control expenses.
• Lead and supervise yard employees, including training and safety.
• Train field teams on proper equipment use and safety procedures.
• Coordinate with NYC DOB crane inspection requirements.
