Position Summary

Are you mechanically inclined with a knack for hands-on work? Do you enjoy a flexible schedule and working independently, but also have the support of a team? The Equipment Service Technician is a remote-based, customer-facing employee, primarily working inside hospitals. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing medical equipment.

Individuals with experience working in HVAC repair, mechanics, maintenance, refrigeration, boilers, chillers, equipment repair, diesel and automotive repair, aviation repair, plumbing, electrical, etc., are often successful.

This is a remote, customer-facing position. To support and service our customers in this assigned territory, candidates must be based out of one of the following states: Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Indiana, Illinois, Nebraska.

This is a floating position which requires heavy travel, up to 75% of the time. Overnight travel Monday – Friday, including some weekends as needed, is expected. The incumbent will travel within Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Indiana, Illinois, Nebraska.

What you'll do as an Equipment Service Technician

• Perform fundamental troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of STERIS and competitor equipment, systems, and components.
• Manage time effectively by prioritizing customer and business needs and schedules independently to complete PMs, service calls, warranty calls, equipment installations, field upgrade programs, and other duties.
• Work with cross-functional teams (Tech Support, Engineering, Service Contract Management) to escalate issues appropriately, utilize advanced technology platforms to ensure compliance, and document troubleshooting issues.
• Provide customers with information, pricing, and repair options. Build relationships with sales to enhance customer experience and identify sales opportunities within the territory.
• Support various locations within the assigned territory based on service agreements and customer needs.

The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED with 4+ years of work experience, including 2 years in a mechanical/technical role. Associates degree or related certifications, technical training, or military experience may be considered.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet background and physical assessment requirements for vendor credentials.
• Customer and team engagement experience.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills (Windows, email, navigation, mobile apps, data entry).
• Flexibility for schedules involving overnights, early/late hours, based on customer and business needs.

Pay range: $47,750.00 - $66,937.50. This position may be eligible for bonuses. Pay is based on factors including experience, education, certifications, and location.
