We are searching for an experienced Equipment Programmer at ourSalt Lake City, UTfacility.

The Equipment Programmer is responsible for creating, modifying, and optimizing programs for production machinery including CNC cutting systems, robotic welders, press brakes, and other fabrication equipment. This role supports manufacturing operations by ensuring machine programs are accurate, efficient, and aligned with engineering specifications. The Equipment Programmer will collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality to ensure seamless execution of production jobs, while supporting safety and continuous improvement initiatives on the shop floor.
Responsibilities

- Program and edit CNC, robotic welding, and fabrication equipment using appropriate CAM and OEM software (e.g., nesting software, offline programming tools, teach pendants).
- Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine machine setup and programming requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering and production to ensure manufacturability and efficiency of programmed parts.
- Maintain and update program libraries; ensure proper file naming, revision control, and documentation.
- Perform test runs and support machine operators in setup and troubleshooting to validate new or revised programs.
- Monitor machine cycle times, tool paths, and cut quality; recommend improvements for efficiency and material utilization.
- Support maintenance of tooling and fixture libraries used during programming.
- Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and operational procedures.
- Assist in training machine operators and providing technical support on equipment use and controls.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, reduce scrap, and improve overall machine uptime.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completion of welding certification program or equivalent hands-on welding experience (1–2 years preferred).
- Proficiency in MIG and/or TIG welding required.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings.
- Familiarity with hand tools, grinders, clamps, and measuring equipment (calipers, tape measures, etc.).
- Demonstrated commitment to quality and attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of material handling safety practices.
- Forklift or overhead crane experience a plus.
- Strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand for extended periods of time (6–12 hours).
- Squatting, kneeling and standing frequently.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Use of steps, ladders, and lifting equipment.
- Regular exposure to a manufacturing environment, including noise, machinery, and heat, dust/dirt frequently and fumes, vapors and mists occasionally.
