Job summary

City of Antioch is seeking an Equipment Operator in the Public Works Department to operate light and heavy construction equipment, perform excavation, paving, and maintenance of streets, water and sewer systems. Work includes loading, lifting, and ensuring safety.

Responsibilities include training others, potentially acting as crew leader, and responding to emergencies. A valid CA driver’s license and at least one year of equipment experience are required.

Qualifications

• Education: Completion of the twelfth grade or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of experience operating complex motorized equipment.
• Possession of a valid CA Driver's license.
• Ability to read drawings and blueprints.
• Knowledge of safety and traffic-control practices.

Responsibilities

• Operate light and heavy construction equipment such as backhoes, loaders, graders, dump trucks.
• Excavate around utilities and pave streets; perform pre-trip checks and minor repairs.
• Load, unload, and transport equipment and materials to job sites.
• Set up barricades, signs, and traffic control at work sites.
• Read blueprints and maintain basic records and reports.
• Train new employees and may act as crew leader.
