Job summary

Texas Department of Transportation's Wichita Falls District is seeking an Equipment Operator for the Special Jobs Crew to work on roadway construction projects and operate a range of light and heavy equipment.

The role involves performing maintenance, monitoring reports, and training others, with a schedule Monday-Thursday 6:00–4:30 and onsite location.

Candidates must have at least 1 year of equipment operation experience and a valid Texas CDL; pre-employment requirements apply.

Qualifications

1 year of experience operating maintenance or construction equipment.
Valid driver’s license; must operate a state vehicle.
Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required at time of application.

Responsibilities

Operate heavy and light equipment on roadway construction projects.
Complete time-keeping, equipment forms, inventory, PMI checklists, and progress records.
Monitor reports and document work progress on projects.
Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs as required.
Relocate equipment using tractor-trailer haul trucks with proper safety procedures.
May lead a work crew to ensure work meets project specifications.
Train other employees on operation and safety procedures.
Respond to emergencies and assist as needed in hazardous situations.
