Job summary

Wasatch Front Waste & Recycling District is seeking a Residential Garbage Truck Driver (Equipment Operator). This full-time role includes a benefits package and a rotating four-day, 10-hour shift schedule across Salt Lake County.

CDL Class B with DOT Medical Card required, plus 1 year equipment driving experience and verifiable CDL driving history. You'll operate state-of-the-art trucks, cover assigned routes collecting refuse and recycling, and transport loads to appropriate facilities.

• Minimum 1 year equipment driving experience.
• At least 6 months of verifiable CDL driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow daily assigned refuse/recycling routes.
• Transport loads to landfill, transfer station, or recycling facility.
• Perform pre- and post-shift vehicle inspections.
• Keep loads within legal limits and comply with laws/regulations.
• Operate and maintain truck cleanliness and proper functioning.

You must have one year of equipment driving experience with at least six (6) months of verifiable driving experience in a position which requires a Commercial Driver's License (CDL). Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with valid DOT Medical Card at the time of hire.

You will follow a daily assigned route collecting refuse and/or recycling, and transporting the load to the landfill, transfer station, or recycling facility. As a CDL holder you are required keep your equipment clean and in proper working condition, perform pre- and post-shift inspections, keep loads within legal limits and follow all applicable laws and regulations.

This position requires a full range of motion in the shoulders, arms, hands, wrists, legs, and feet. A driver must be able to push, pull, or lift up to 100 pounds as necessary to ensure route is complete and free of debris, and exhibit manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. In this position you will sit for extended periods while exposed to traffic hazards, inclement weather, noise, dust, fumes, grease, and potentially unsanitary conditions; the use of personal protective equipment is mandatory. You must be able to climb into and out of equipment on a regular basis.
