Job summary

The San Antonio Water System is seeking an Equipment Operator to perform a variety of labor duties including operating and transporting equipment for water distribution and wastewater collection projects. The role includes an automatic progression to Senior Equipment Operator after 5 years of continuous service.

Key tasks include operating a range of vehicles and machinery, ensuring safety procedures, interpreting plans, and supporting crew in traffic control and tool usage.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Texas Class A Commercial Driver License.
• Six months’ experience operating equipment in construction, water, wastewater or similar work environment.
• Pass position specific physical testing.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain medium to heavy equipment such as dump truck, front-end loader, skid loader, backhoe, and more.
• Transport equipment, tools, and materials to and from jobsites.
• Load and unload materials from trucks and stock vehicles with needed equipment.
• Conduct inspections of equipment and report mechanical concerns/issues.
• May provide training on proper usage of tools and equipment.
