Job summary

The City of Billings is seeking an Equipment Operator/Maintenance Worker for Distribution & Collection to perform a full range of maintenance duties on city buildings, equipment or grounds and operating a variety of equipment.

The role includes a CDL requirement, diverse maintenance tasks, and a standard pay scale with summer hours. This is a full-time position offering growth and stable municipal employment with the City.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two (2) years of related work experience in construction and maintenance work including (1) year of experience operating light and medium equipment.
• Minimum of three (3) years of related work experience in construction and maintenance work including two (2) years of experience operating light and medium equipment.
• Possession of a State of Montana, Class A, Type 1 commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement, no air brake restriction, or one must be obtained within ninety (90) days of employment.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Checks tires, oil lubricant, water levels, lights, and fuel.
• Washes, lubricates, and adjusts equipment.
• Changes tires.
• Maintains shop and storage areas used in performing assigned tasks.
• Maintains cleanliness of work area and tools.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintains and inspects water lines, wastewater lines, hydrants, valves, and lift stations.
• Cleans wastewater lines and unclogs sewer line stoppages; inspects sewer lines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

The City of Billings is seeking an Equipment Operator/Maintenance Worker for Distribution & Collection to perform a full range of maintenance duties on city buildings, equipment or grounds and/or operating a variety of equipment.

Salary Range: Salary reflects Step 1 and Step 4 of a 7-step pay scale. Salary at hiring will be dependent upon the applicant's education, experience, and training.

• Maintenance Worker: $21.8623 - $25.3414 per hour.
• Equipment Operator: $25.6353 - $29.7146 per hour

Work Schedule: Summer Hours: Four 10-hour days, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Cleans wastewater lines and unclogs sewer line stoppages; inspects sewer lines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
