Job summary

Frederick County Government's Solid Waste and Recycling division seeks an Equipment Operator II - Scrapper to operate heavy motor equipment, process scrap metal, and support landfill operations. 40 hours Monday–Friday, with full benefits.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 1 year of work experience in heavy equipment operation or a related field.
Possession of a valid MD Commercial Class B driver's license (CDL-B) with tank truck endorsement and successful completion of the airbrakes knowledge and skills test or an equivalent license from another state.

Responsibilities

Operate heavy motor equipment to move and process rubbish and maintain roads within the landfill.
Drive commercial vehicles to haul and transport materials as well as equipment.
Operate small hand tools to dismantle and further process scrap metal and electronics.
Complete daily inspections of all equipment and maintain records.
Complete routine maintenance, repairs, and adjustments to assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment.
