Job summary

City of Midwest City is seeking an Equipment Operator II in the Sanitation Department. The role involves safely operating front-end loading sanitation equipment on routes or between transfer points and landfill, with responsibilities including pre-trip and post-trip checks, basic maintenance, and reporting issues to supervision.

Starting pay is $21.5855 - $22.8556 per hour with benefits. A valid Oklahoma Class A CDL is required, along with a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Must have completed high school or GED.
• Experience operating front-end packer and/or tractor-trailer tandem and backhoe.
• Valid Oklahoma Class A CDL with satisfactory motor vehicle record.

Responsibilities

• Operate front-end sanitation equipment on routes or between transfer stations.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip checks, and basic maintenance per program.
• Report vehicle maintenance needs to supervisor or Fleet.
• Maintain cleanliness around dumpsters and assist with waste collection.
• Comply with safety policies and operate equipment safely.

The City of Midwest City is accepting applications for the position of Equipment Operator II in the Sanitation Department.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will perform skilled work in safely operating front-end loading sanitation equipment and/or over-the-road sanitation tractor-trailer equipment either on a commercial sanitation route or between the sanitary landfill and the transfer station.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Checksequipmenttoinsureproper/safeoperatingconditionaspartofapre-tripandpost-trip preventive maintenance program.
• Responsibleforsafelyoperatingcommercialroutefront-endloaderinawidevarietyoftraffic conditions and safety hazards.
• Operateslift-cyclefeaturesoncommercialroutefront-endloaderinplacing,servicing,anddumping a variety of sanitation dumpsters into the vehicle for transport to the transfer station and/or landfill.
• Operatesatractor-trailerunitintransportingtrashfromthetransferstationtothe
• Checksvehiclefluidlevelsandperformsminormaintenanceon
• Reportsvehiclemaintenanceneedstosupervisorand/orFleet

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have:

• High school or GED
• Previous experience in the operation of a front-end packer and/or experience in the operation of a tractor-trailer tandem and backhoe required
• Must possess a valid Oklahoma Class "A" Commercial Driver's License and satisfactory motor vehicle record
