Job Description

Operate equipment involved in the maintenance and construction of County roads and city projects.

Responsibilities
  1. Operate and/or drive trucks or light equipment.
  2. Perform road maintenance or construction-related duties while operating equipment.
  3. Transport equipment and supplies as needed.
  4. Control traffic flow at the work site.
  5. Perform routine maintenance on equipment or trucks and report needed repairs.
  6. Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED plus one (1) year of related work experience, or
  • Five (5) years of related work experience.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • A current and valid Class C driver license is required upon hire.
  • Class A CDL with tanker endorsement is required within eight (8) months of hire.
Additional Requirements

The selected candidate(s) must:

  • Take and pass a pre-placement physical examination and DOT drug test.
  • Provide proof of educational attainment at new hire processing, if hired.
Background Checks

Tarrant County will conduct background checks, including criminal background, credit reports, motor vehicle records, employment records, and educational verification. A conviction or deferred adjudication is not an automatic disqualifier; each case is considered individually.

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

While performing duties, the incumbent may need to:

  • Lift heavy objects up to 100 pounds.
  • Be exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme heat, and cold.
