Job summary

City of Hampton is seeking an Equipment Operator II to operate and maintain an automated/knuckle boom truck in the Public Works team. You will perform routine maintenance and ensure the truck is ready for daily tasks while upholding safety standards.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of related experience in waste operations, and a valid CDL Class B with a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year of full-time equivalent experience in a solid waste position or related role.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B or able to obtain Virginia CDL Class B within 30 days.
• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record per City criteria.
• Position is safety sensitive and requires DOT-aligned alcohol and controlled substances testing.
• Must pass background check prior to offer or promotion.
