Job summary

The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) is seeking Equipment Operators in Beulah, ND to maintain highways and structures, operate heavy equipment, and perform winter maintenance. You will support signage and guardrail upkeep and keep roadways clear of hazards.

Positions are available at Operator II, Operator I, or Training levels, requiring valid ND driver licenses (A or B) and endorsements. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and reliable on-call availability during emergencies.

Qualifications

• Valid North Dakota Class A driver license with no air brake restrictions and cargo tank endorsement (N) by start date.
• Alternate if no A license: Class B license with no air brake restrictions.
• Training option available as Equipment Operator in Training with 12-month license acquisition window.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment for highway, roadway and structure maintenance.
• Install, repair, and maintain highway signs and guardrails.
• Maintain road and radio system equipment; perform basic preventive maintenance.
• Complete paperwork: time records, activity reports, road reports; follow safety protocols.
• Be available for emergency events, including after-hours work within 30 minutes notice.
