Job summary

The North Dakota Department of Transportation in Watford City, ND is hiring Equipment Operator I/II to maintain highways and operate heavy equipment. This role includes snow and ice control, road sign and guardrail maintenance, and routine ground and building tasks under close supervision.

We offer a regular, full-time position with a monthly salary from $4,375 to $4,937, plus a regional pay differential of $800 per month.

Qualifications

Valid North Dakota Class A driver license without air brake restrictions and a cargo tank endorsement by first day.
ND Class B license without air brake restrictions for Equipment Operator I.
MOS codes may substitute for required experience year-for-year (e.g., 88M, 12N, 3E2X1).
Must be able to report to work within 30 minutes during emergencies including after hours/weekends/holidays.
Employment contingent on interview, drug test, function screening, references, driver record check and federal clearinghouse.

Responsibilities

Operate heavy equipment for highway, roadway and structure maintenance.
Perform snow and ice control/removal as part of maintenance duties.
Install, repair and maintain highway signs and guardrails; use power tools as needed.
Maintain building/ground and routine maintenance of roadway and radio system equipment.
Complete necessary paperwork: time records, activity reports, daily diary, road reports, etc.
