Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking an Equipment Operator II to operate light to moderately complex construction equipment for the maintenance of its facilities and utilities. You will handle controls precisely to move earth, load materials, and support several wastewater treatment plants and distribution sites.

The role requires a valid Texas CDL (A or B) with a clean driving record, and a minimum of four years’ experience operating related equipment.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience operating a variety of light to medium equipment used in excavation, construction, utility, landfill and/or street sweeping operations.
• Valid Texas Class A or B CDL with good driving record; if CDL from another state, must obtain Texas CDL within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Operates, drives, and safely uses light to moderately complex equipment for City of Dallas and utility maintenance.
• Loads and transports materials to supply construction or maintenance projects.
• Performs regular equipment inspection and minor mechanical repairs to keep equipment in operating condition.
• Completes daily activity reports for resource allocation and progress tracking.
• Note: position may require 24-hour overtime coverage at Central Wastewater Treatment Plant and other facilities.
