Job summary

The City of Dallas is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join Public Works and Transportation. You will operate a range of heavy machinery, perform routine maintenance, and support road and sewer projects under varied weather conditions.

Qualified applicants will have at least four years of equipment operator experience, a valid Class A CDL and a Texas driver’s license, with preference for TCEQ water licenses and additional Texas endorsements.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of experience as an equipment operator with at least two (2) years operating heavy equipment.
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and Texas Driver's License with good driving record.
• Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) License preferred for Water; other TX endorsements preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates, drives, and maintains heavy equipment such as crawlers, graders, dump trucks, cranes, and draglines.
• Plans daily work and routes; leads crews when needed and ensures safety.
• Performs routine equipment maintenance and basic repairs; completes work orders and reports.
