Job summary

City of Farmers Branch is seeking a skilled laborer to support streets maintenance, sidewalks, storm drains, and related services. The role includes operating a variety of construction equipment and performing concrete work, pavement patching, and graffiti removal.

Requires eighth grade education with five years in related field or high school equivalency, plus two years running light to heavy equipment. DOT drug/alcohol testing will apply, with on-call duties and a 4-day work week mentioned.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience operating light, median and heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a streets maintenance crew; patch pavement and seal cracks; remove graffiti; perform bikeway maintenance.
• Construct forms; pours and finishes concrete.
• Operate construction equipment such as dump trucks, rollers, motor graders, front loaders, 10-yard rotary mix truck, excavators, forklifts, aerial lift trucks, backhoe, asphalt paver, hydro/vacuum trucks, sweepers and power tools such as compressors, rotor hammers, jack hammers, paint sprayers, asphalt grinders, and concrete saws.
• Inspect and clear obstructions from storm drains; identify equipment needs for each assigned project.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public, using principles of good customer service.
