Job summary

LOGISTEC in Gibsonton, FL is seeking an Equipment Operator II to safely operate heavy maritime equipment, including cranes, excavators, front-end loaders, and forklifts in a busy bulk terminal. You will load and unload vessels, trucks, and rail, perform inspections, document activities, and support safety and efficiency for a fast-paced port operation.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant training preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card.
  • Proven experience operating heavy equipment in maritime/bulk terminal environments.
  • Strong safety knowledge and ability to work in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a variety of heavy maritime equipment, including cranes, excavators, front-end loaders, and other machinery used in bulk cargo handling operations.
  • Perform routine equipment inspections and report maintenance needs to ensure safe operation.
  • Load, unload, and transfer bulk materials between vessels, trucks, and rail while maintaining efficiency and proper cargo handling procedures.
  • Work closely with terminal teams to support smooth cargo flow and maximize productivity.
  • Follow all safety policies, OSHA regulations, and terminal procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of equipment usage, cargo movements, and operations.
  • Identify equipment issues and perform basic troubleshooting or minor repairs as needed.
  • Support training and development of new operators by sharing knowledge of equipment operation and safety practices.

As an Equipment Operator II, you will operate heavy equipment such as excavators, front-end loaders, cranes, and industrial forklifts to safely load, unload, and transport bulk materials, including sulfur, gravel, gypsum, potash, and slag. You'll work in a fast-paced terminal environment where safety, teamwork, and operational excellence are essential.

Responsibilities

What your day looks like as Equipment Operator:

  • Safely operate a variety of heavy maritime equipment, including cranes, excavators, front-end loaders, and other machinery used in bulk cargo handling operations.

Qualifications

To succeed as Equipment Operator you must have:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications or training preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card required
  • Proven experience operating heavy equipment, preferably in a maritime or bulk terminal environment.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations related to maritime operations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Must be flexible to work day, nights and/or weekends as needed

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Comfortable working in varying weather conditions and on elevated platforms.
