Job summary

City of Jacksonville Beach is seeking an Equipment Operator I to perform intermediate skilled work operating motorized equipment for public infrastructure maintenance. The role works under supervision, may supervise others, and can be assigned to different divisions.

Eligible external candidates start at $21.77 per hour with a comprehensive benefits package including health plans and a pension. Internal candidates are guided by city policies. CDL is required within six months.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 1 year of experience operating motorized equipment.
• Must obtain Class B Commercial Driver’s License within six months of employment.
• Knowledge of operating and servicing heavy construction equipment.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Operates construction, excavation, hauling, and maintenance equipment for streets, utilities, storm drainage, and related facilities.
• Transport tools and equipment to sites and maintain fleet tools.
• Adheres to Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices standards in rights-of-way.
• Inspects and maintains tools and vehicles for proper use and care.
• Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on automotive equipment.
• Performs general public works and grounds maintenance as assigned.
