Job summary

Clayton County is seeking an Equipment Operator I for its Parks & Recreation - Park Services division. The role focuses on driving and operating trucks and equipment to support maintenance and construction projects, with a strong emphasis on safety and proper material handling.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, two years' experience with equipment operation, and a valid Georgia driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of experience operating and driving equipment for maintenance projects or equivalent.
• CDL preferred and Georgia driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of trucks and equipment (bull dozers, tractors, dump trucks, etc.).
• Conduct pre-trip inspections, fuel, load/unload materials, and secure loads.
• Direct traffic, place markers and signs for safety, and perform basic maintenance on tools and vehicles.
• Assist with inclement weather, emergencies, and other related duties as needed.
