Clayton County is seeking an Equipment Operator, Senior/Refuse to perform duties involving operating light equipment and driving a truck for refuse collection and related tasks. Responsibilities include cutting grass, collecting litter, delivering supplies, and supervising inmates as assigned.
Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED with at least one year of experience operating equipment or driving for maintenance projects and must possess a valid Georgia driver’s license.
EQUIPMENT OPERATOR/SR - REFUSE
Drives trucks and operates light equipment used for Refuse Control. Performs manual labor in the completion of various County tasks. Work is monitored while in progress and upon completion by a crew foreman.
Performs other related duties as required.
High School Diploma or GED supplemented by one (1) year of experience operating and driving equipment in support of maintenance projects; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. May be required to possess and maintain a valid Georgia Commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsement(s) depending on type of equipment/vehicle operated.
Tasks require the regular and sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and that generally involves lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials (20-50 pounds).
Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades of colors, sounds, odor, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
Performance of essential functions may require exposure to adverse environmental conditions, such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, temperature and noise extremes, machinery, vibrations, or traffic hazards.
