Job summary

Madison County Commission is seeking a semi-skilled equipment operator to support the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, and water pipes. Under supervision, you will drive mid-size dump and tank trucks and operate tractors with various attachments, performing basic maintenance and ensuring DOT compliance.

You must pass a DOT physical and obtain a CDL within six months. The role runs Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, in a drug-free workplace with safety testing and

Qualifications

• Working knowledge of traffic laws and safe operation of trucks and equipment.
• Ability to operate trucks, wheeled tractors and light equipment.
• Ability to perform basic maintenance tasks.
• Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
• Ability to judge roadworthiness and compliance with DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Drives mid-size dump and tank trucks hauling materials, tools, and trash.
• Operates tractors with rollers, graders, brooms, plows, or mowers.
• Operates oil heater, loaders, patching rollers, and other equipment.
• Acts as relief operator for distributors and loaders as needed.
• Operates jackhammers and performs manual labor tasks as required.
• Maintains and services equipment; reports safety hazards to supervisors.
• Transports vehicles for repair and keeps delivery records.
• Transports workers and tools as needed.
