Job summary

City of Madison, AL seeks a manual laborer for Public Works across Construction, Maintenance and ROW divisions. The job requires physical strength and the ability to perform routine, semi-skilled tasks and to assist in emergencies and special events.

You will operate light to medium equipment, perform digging, patching, grassing, and general roadside maintenance. A High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with a valid driver’s license. CDL is a plus and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read maps and job orders.
• Capable of lifting up to 80 pounds.
• Experience with light/medium equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform safety and maintenance inspections of assigned equipment.
• Conduct routine manual labor including loading, digging, and carrying.
• Operate light to medium equipment as needed across divisions.
• Assist in paving, patching, and landscaping tasks.
• Support in emergency situations and road closures.
