Job description

Assists as a work crew member in highway maintenance; digs ditches, rakes asphalt, cuts brush, performs roadside mowing, removes asphalt and debris, etc.; may operate air hammer, pick, chainsaw, weedeater, chipper, etc.; performs other miscellaneous laborer duties; picks up litter; picks up dead animals from right of way.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Operating various motorized equipment for road maintenance (small roller, tractor, tandem dump trucks, snow plow, pickup, etc.).
  2. Hauling equipment and workers.
  3. Picking up and delivering materials for road maintenance and construction (sand, gravel, asphalt, salt).
  4. Being on-call to plow and/or spread salt for snow and ice control.
  5. Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • CDL (Commercial Driver License) required. New hires will have the opportunity to obtain their CDL during the initial 180-day probationary period.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers.
  • Ability to read and write simple sentences.
  • 100 hours of training in operation of heavy equipment or 1 month of experience.
  • Valid Ohio Commercial Driver’s License (Type A) must be obtained during probationary period.
